Established in 1957 Chikushidai Academy stands proudly in Fukuoka. It began as Chikushidai Branch School of Kyushu Industrial College. Two departments existed then civil engineering and architecture. The school expanded rapidly. New departments like mechanical and electrical engineering joined soon after. In 1961 communications engineering was added. This later changed to electronics engineering. The automotive engineering department arrived in 1969. A notable event marked 1971. Chikushidai High School’s team played in the 53rd National High School Baseball Tournament. This was a significant moment of pride for the academy.

Throughout the decades Chikushidai Academy has undergone many transformations. It became independent in 1978. It changed its name multiple times reflecting its evolving identity. Its name changed to Chikushidai Industrial College in 1958. Then in 1992 a new name appeared Chikushidai Academy. The general studies department introduced co-education in 1992. Further expansion of the academic offerings included several other departments. Electronics and mechanical engineering merged in 1993. Computer science and information processing departments also were added. Other changes occurred as well. In 1998 information electronics and electrical engineering departments merged.
