It’s about fostering “creation, love, and health” in its students. This motto is embodied in the school’s emblem, the plum blossom, Fukuoka Prefecture’s official flower. The plum, blooming vibrantly even in the cold, symbolizes resilience and the courage to face the unknown. Chikushi High School encourages its students to embrace challenges and strive for continuous growth, much like the plum blossoms that brave the winter. Chikushi High School also has a unique tradition called “Chikushi Exercise.” This exercise routine, developed by a sports teacher, was initially performed to background music. Today, students perform these exercises while chanting together. The routine includes a range of movements, from simple arm rotations and leg exercises to more complex stretches and creative movements. It’s a way for students to energize themselves and prepare for the day, and it’s often incorporated into sports classes and athletic events. Students have even created their own versions of the exercises. In 2022, Chikushi High School celebrated its 50th anniversary. The theme, “Chikushi Co-creation 50th,” highlighted the collaborative spirit of the school. Several commemorative events took place, including a sports day with a grand firework display and a commemorative ceremony. The Parent-Teacher Association even gifted the school new equipment, including GIGA School LAN extensions and classroom air conditioning. Chikushi High School, as part of its 50th-anniversary celebration, also created a captivating PR video. This video showcases the unique character of the school, featuring students, activities, and even alumni success stories. It’s a vibrant portrait of Chikushi High School and its dedication to fostering well-rounded individuals. Even the school uniform, chosen by student vote, contributes to Chikushi’s distinct identity. From blazers and standard uniforms to summer attire, students are given options that allow for self-expression. Beyond the everyday, Chikushi High School also encourages students to explore and address real-world problems within Chikushi City. Through “Project C,” students develop and present plans to city officials, and successful plans are considered for actual policy implementation. This hands-on approach to learning allows students to directly impact their community.
