Hiroshima Prefectural Hiroshima Technical High School, more commonly known as “Hiroshima Kôgyô” for us locals, is a testament to the city’s resilience. It’s a school dedicated to technical disciplines, a legacy of industrial ambition. It’s a beautiful building, but its current appearance is not its original one. It was initially based in a different part of the city, closer to where the atomic bomb was dropped. This is not a story of tragedy, it’s a story of renewal. The school moved to its current spot after the war, a new beginning for a brighter future. In the past, Hiroshima Kôgyô had a reputation as a haven for students with a passion for technology. Its engineering and electrical departments were particularly renowned. The school was a place to push the boundaries of innovation, fueled by the spirit of “making” that runs through Hiroshima, where the past served as fuel for a prosperous future. Today, the school continues to shape the minds of Hiroshima’s promising young engineers. It continues to be a place where dreams take flight.
