澱山湖, originally known as Xue澱 Lake, is Shanghai’s largest freshwater lake. It covers an area of 62 square kilometers. It is part of the Taihu Lake system. 澱山湖 is a national water conservancy scenic spot. It is also one of the new eight scenic spots in 滬上.
澱山湖 serves as a water source for the Wusong River and the Huangpu River. Some of the lake’s water flows east through the 泖港 into the Wusong River. Other water flows southeast through the 攔路港 into the Huangpu River.
