Let me tell you about Myosenji Temple. It is a temple of the Jodo Shinshu sect. This temple has a unique story. It begins with a monk named Ryonyo. Ryonyo yearned for the Asano family. The Asano family had moved from Kishu to Hiroshima.
In 1621 Ryonyo followed the Asano family. He came to Hiroshima from Kyo. He founded Myosenji Temple on the former site. This site once belonged to Komei Temple. Komei Temple had moved from Hiroshima to Aki.
However tragedy struck in 1651. A fire completely destroyed Myosenji Temple. The temple site then became Tokujo Temple. Tokujo Temple was a sub-temple. It belonged to Tokujo Temple.
Years passed and in 1878 Myosenji Temple was revived. It regained its status as an independent temple. It was officially named Bodai-san Myosenji Temple. In 1881 the temple moved. It moved to its current location.
