“Wear a mask in our hospital.” That is what you will hear upon entering Hiroshima City North Medical Center Asa Citizens Hospital. This is our next stop. It is also known as Asa Citizens Hospital. Let’s learn more.

Hiroshima City North Medical Center Asa Citizens Hospital is in Asakita-ku Hiroshima. The hospital’s address is 1-2-1 Kameyamaminami. Its phone number is +81-82-815-5211. You can also reach them by facsimile at +81-82-814-1791.

This hospital was established in May 1980. It aimed to provide local medical care. In 2010, it was designated a regional cancer care collaboration base hospital.

In March 2012, there were plans to relocate the hospital. The plan was to move it to the Arakida district when the Kabe Line was extended. The facilities were aging. They also had insufficient earthquake resistance. It was also difficult to deal with advanced specialized medical care due to limited space.

Two options were considered by December 2012. One was rebuilding at the current location. The other was relocating to the Arakida district. In January 2013, the first information session for local residents took place.

Many opposed the relocation plan. In February 2014 a budget for the relocation was rejected.

In June 2014, a proposal to the assembly was postponed. They decided to explore all possibilities including rebuilding at the current location.

Later a decision was made. Some functions would remain at the old Asa Citizens Hospital site. A new hospital would be built on the former Arakida Prefectural Housing site. The goal was to shift from hospital-complete to community-complete medical care.

The plan involved reorganizing hospitals in Asakita Ward. Asa Citizens Hospital would handle advanced acute care. The Hiroshima City Northern Medical Center would handle acute and advanced acute care. Asa Medical Association Hospital would handle rehabilitation.

On May 1 2022, the Hiroshima City Northern Medical Center Asa Citizens Hospital opened. Fifty inpatients were transferred.

The Asa Medical Association Hospital opened on April 1 2023. It renovated the north building of the former City Asa Citizens Hospital.

Hiroshima City North Medical Center Asa Citizens Hospital has many departments. These include internal medicine and pediatrics. There is also surgery ophthalmology and dentistry. The hospital is an accredited training hospital. It also serves as a disaster base hospital. It is a regional cancer care collaboration base hospital as well.

The hospital actively shares information. You can find news and recruitment updates on their website. They also have an official YouTube channel. It features promotional videos. These videos showcase the hospital’s features and appeal.
