In 1879, a seed was planted. That seed was the founding of Ashinoki Elementary School, right here in Fukuoka. Originally, it wasn’t known as Fukuoka Shiritsu Ashinoki Elementary School. It was simply Ashinoki Elementary, a small school in the then-village of Ashinoki. Imagine the children, their wooden clogs clicking on the dirt paths, attending classes in a simpler time. Years passed, seasons changed, and Ashinoki Elementary, along with the surrounding community, grew and evolved. In 1955, a significant transformation occurred. Several villages, including Ashinoki, merged. This created the town of Chikushino, and the school’s name was updated to reflect this change: Chikushino Town Ashinoki Elementary School. This marked a new chapter in the school’s history, a blending of communities and a shared future for their children. Another pivotal moment arrived in 1972. Chikushino officially became a city. Again, the school’s name was changed, this time to its current name: Fukuoka Shiritsu Ashinoki Elementary School. The school stands as a testament to the community’s growth and resilience. It’s a living timeline, etched in the changes of its name, reflecting the evolution from a small village school to one serving a vibrant city.
