A year later in 1956 Higashihie Elementary School became independent. It separated from Katakasu Elementary School. Thus a new chapter began.

The school’s educational goals focus on nurturing well-rounded children. They should be healthy in both mind and body. The aim is to encourage children to think for themselves. Also they should have rich hearts and live with vigor.

In 2004 the school’s brass band excelled. It won an Excellent Award at the Nishinippon Children’s Music Concert. This showcased their musical talent.

Later in 2022 a children’s club was relocated to the school grounds. It is known as “Hikari No Room.” The school is near Hakata Station. The school district extends east along the Mikasa River.
