In 1902, a seed was planted. This seed, Fukuoka Shiritsu Osasho Gakkou, began as the Sukuzaki Village Osasho Elementary School. Imagine the children, their laughter echoing through the newly built halls. Fukuoka Shiritsu Osasho Gakkou has seen generations pass through its doors. The school witnessed transformations, changing names like a chameleon adapting to its environment. From Sukuzaki Village Osasho Elementary School to Fukuoka Shiritsu Osasho Gakkou, each name whispers a story of a bygone era. In 1941, it became Sukuzaki Village Osasho National School. Then, in 1947, it reverted back, becoming the Sukuzaki Village Osasho Elementary School once more. In 1954, Fukuoka City absorbed Sukuzaki Village. Fukuoka Shiritsu Osasho Gakkou adopted its present name, reflecting its new place within the city. This same year, Osasho North Elementary School split off, later becoming the Miyatake Elementary School. This wasn’t the last separation. Fukuoka Shiritsu Osasho Gakkou also birthed Tokunaga Elementary School in 1970 and Takaki Elementary School in 1982. Finally, Yokote Elementary School separated in 1995. Imagine the families, the teachers, the students who contributed to the vibrant tapestry of Fukuoka Shiritsu Osasho Gakkou’s history. In 2021, the school celebrated its 120th anniversary, a testament to its enduring legacy. The school song, composed in 1933, likely filled the air that day. A melody connecting past and present. Fukuoka Shiritsu Osasho Gakkou serves children in a designated area of Minami ward, including Osasho 1, 2, 4, and 5 Chome. Also, Mokusha 1 and 2 Chome, and part of Yokote 3 Chome are included. This area, located in the southeastern part of Minami ward, is primarily residential. The eastern edge of the school zone borders Kasuga City. Its western edge reaches the right bank of the Nakagawa River. Students graduating from Fukuoka Shiritsu Osasho Gakkou typically move on to Yokote Junior High School. This elementary school holds a piece of Fukuoka’s heart, a story etched in time, whispered through generations.
