Established in 1971, the Ōnojo Municipal Ōno Higashi Junior High School has a rich history. Right here, in the heart of Ōnojo City, stands Ōnojo Higashi Junior High School. Locals affectionately call it “Daitō”. Originally, Ōnojo Higashi Junior High School served students from three elementary school districts: Ōno Higashi Elementary School, Ōno Kita Elementary School, and a portion of Ōjiro Elementary School. In 1983, Onojo Municipal Miyamae Junior High School was established, branching off from Ōnojo Higashi Junior High School. This significantly impacted the student population at Daitō. Today, Ōnojo Higashi Junior High School boasts a comprehensive air conditioning system. This ensures a comfortable learning environment in all classrooms, including the technical rooms. Interestingly, a calligraphy work by Umegata Matao is preserved within the school’s archives. The dedicated Parent-Teacher Association plays a vital role in the school community. Every November, they elect new officers. Their elections are taken very seriously. They even have a specialized committee that meets regularly to address important matters. This demonstrates the strong community involvement at Ōnojo Higashi Junior High School.
