Kamado Shrine honors not one, but three significant figures: the goddess Tamayori Hime no Mikoto, Emperor Ojin, and his mother, Empress Jingu. Emperor Tenchi, after his defeat at the Battle of Baekgang in 664 AD, sought solace and divine protection. He established Kamado Shrine, dedicating it to the myriad deities of Mount Homan. It commemorates the appearance of Tamayori no Hime to the monk Shinren during his ascetic training in 683 AD.
