Perhaps you have noticed construction underway. It is the Jiamin line. The Jiamin line is a commuter rail line. It is currently under construction. This line is part of the Shanghai Suburban Railway. Shentong Metro Group will run it. The Jiamin line stretches from Yindu Road to Chengbei Road. Construction commenced on June 28, 2021. The line is expected to open in 2027.
Let’s talk about the proposed stations. Yindu Road is in Minhang. Xinjian Road connects via Humin Road. Qixin Road is next. Then Qibao follows. Huxing Road connects to line 25. Yingbinsan Road is another stop. Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 is a key station. It connects to lines 2, 10, and 17 via Hongqiao Railway Station. The Airport Link Demonstration Area is nearby. Tianshan Road is another station. Jinyun Road links to line 13. Jiading Lexiu Road is a planned stop. Nanxiang connects to lines 11 and 22. Fengmao Road is further along the line. Jiajian Highway station is planned too. Xincheng Road is another stop. Chengbei Road connects to line 11 via North Jiading.
Most of the Jiamin line is underground. Only a small portion is on the ground. The underground section spans 41.36 kilometers. The ground section is 2.68 kilometers. There will be 14 underground stations and one ground station. Trains will run at a maximum speed of 160 km/h. The Jiamin line will use both fast and slow train services. Some stations will have double island platforms. This allows for express and local services.
There are plans to extend the Jiamin line northward. It may reach Taicang in Jiangsu Province. The Jiamin line promises to be a vital part of Shanghai’s transportation network. It will connect Minhang and Jiading efficiently. This line represents a significant investment in Shanghai’s future.
