Opened in 1984, the Hiroshima City Higashi Ward Library stands as a testament to the city’s resilience. This library, part of the Hiroshima City Central Library system, isn’t just a repository of books. It’s a community hub, nestled within the Higashi Ward Cultural Center. Imagine stepping inside. You’re surrounded by over 64,808 books, each a portal to different worlds and ideas. The Hiroshima City Higashi Ward Library offers a diverse collection for all ages, from general books and comics to a dedicated children’s corner. It’s more than just a place to borrow books. It’s a space to connect, learn, and grow. The library shares a parking lot with the cultural center, offering 40 spaces for visitors. A short ten-minute walk from Hiroshima Station, it is easily accessible. The Hiroshima City Higashi Ward Library opens its doors from 9 am to 7 pm, Tuesday through Friday. On Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, and August 6th, it operates on slightly reduced hours, from 9 am to 5 pm. The library observes regular closures on Mondays, national holidays, and specific book-sorting days. It also closes for a special period around the New Year and for occasional special maintenance. This library stands as a symbol of Hiroshima’s dedication to learning and community, a place where stories unfold and knowledge flourishes within the heart of the vibrant Higashi Ward.
