Viktor Nikolaevich Kukushkin was born on June 16, 1923, in Vologda. He died in Moscow on July 27, 2002. He was a participant in the Great Patriotic War. Kukushkin served as a lieutenant. He commanded a company of the 256th Rifle Regiment. Viktor Nikolaevich Kukushkin was a Hero of the Soviet Union.

Kukushkin joined the Soviet Army on June 23, 1941. In the autumn of 1941, he completed an accelerated course at the Borisov Military Engineering School in Arkhangelsk. From November 1941, Kukushkin fought in the Great Patriotic War.

Near the Bogoyavlenskaya station, Kukushkin led a group of soldiers. They crossed the Don River. For selflessness, Kukushkin was awarded the Order of the Red Star.

In the night on September 26, 1943, Lieutenant Kukushkin led a group of 23 men. They crossed the Dnieper River. They seized a dominant height. Kukushkin repelled several enemy counterattacks. His actions ensured the successful crossing of the river.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on October 25, 1943. Lieutenant Viktor Nikolaevich Kukushkin was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. He also received the Order of Lenin.

In 1957, Kukushkin graduated from the Leningrad Military Engineering School. He served as commander. In 1967, Kukushkin retired as a colonel. From 1979 to 2002, he lived at 5 Lomonosov Avenue. Kukushkin worked as an engineer. He worked at the Ministry of Agriculture.
