Established in 1958, McCree Park sprawls across over 10 acres in the Highland Meadows neighborhood of Dallas. It’s more than just green space. It’s a playground, a sports field, and a place for the community to gather. McCree Park, located at 9016 Plano Road, offers a variety of activities for all ages. Younger children can enjoy the play set designed for ages 2-5, while older kids can explore the equipment geared towards 5-12 year olds. Four swings, two regular and two baby, provide classic fun for everyone. Beyond the playground, McCree Park boasts a vast field perfect for baseball, softball, or a spirited game of kickball. Aspiring tennis stars can practice their serve on the park’s tennis court. After a day of play, families can relax at the pavilion with its two concrete picnic benches. Benches also encircle the playground, offering a place to rest. While the park doesn’t offer much shade, the presence of a well-maintained portable restroom in the parking lot is a welcome convenience. Parents should be mindful of Plano Road, a busy street bordering the park. The playground isn’t fenced, so keeping an eye on little ones is crucial. Despite this, McCree Park remains a popular spot for families, offering a blend of recreation and relaxation.
