After the passing of her husband Johannes in 1894, she returned to this very spot where her journey began. In 1907 Johanna purchased the property. She had a vision, a dream for her family’s future, that this quaint and historic house would be their home. Johanna and her daughters, filled with a spirit of hospitality, welcomed students from Trinity College. They opened their doors to the young scholars, providing a home away from home, a place where they could rest and learn. The Olson House stood as a symbol of resilience, a constant in a world changing. A good local example of Queen Anne architecture, the house features a grand wrap-around porch and unique features like the fishscale shingles. Time has passed, the College no longer stands, and the family has moved on, but the Olson House remains frozen in time, a reminder of the past.
