Craving the irresistible aroma of barbecued meat? You’re in luck because we’re standing in front of Bee Cheng Hiang. It is a Singaporean company famous for its bak kwa.

Bee Cheng Hiang’s story began in 1933. Teo Swee Ee founded the company. He started by carrying a bamboo pole. Baskets hung from each end. One basket held a charcoal grill. The other held freshly cooked bak kwa. He sold his barbecued meats outside opera sheds. These were popular entertainment venues. His sales were especially good during festive occasions.

In 1945, Teo Swee Ee opened his first store. It was on Rochor Road near the Singapore River. Later, he opened a second shop nearby. This one was on Victoria Street. Unfortunately, trucks often parked on Victoria Street. They hid Teo’s store from customers.

Teo came up with a clever solution. He paid a truck fleet owner. He was allowed to paint his company name and logo on the trucks. This helped attract more customers.

Bee Cheng Hiang is more than just a bak kwa company. Their vision is to be Asia’s leading food company. They aim to provide quality products and services. They want to serve the global market. Food safety is very important to them.

Bee Cheng Hiang’s bak kwa is made with 100% natural ingredients. There are no added meat tenderizers. They also don’t use preservatives. You won’t find any artificial flavouring or colouring or MSG. This commitment has been true since 1933. It remains true today.

Bee Cheng Hiang has grown significantly. It now has more than 370 outlets. These are spread across 13 territories. They are committed to helping people experience enjoyable moments. They want to share these moments in everyday life.

The brand uses only premium pork. Their marinades are also top-notch. The recipe is a family secret. For many families in Asia, Chinese New Year isn’t complete. They need servings of Bee Cheng Hiang’s barbecued preserved pork.

Today, Bee Cheng Hiang stands as a testament. It showcases the power of hard work. It also shows the importance of innovation and unwavering commitment. All of these things can build a lasting legacy. So, go ahead and treat yourself. Experience the delicious taste of Bee Cheng Hiang’s bak kwa. You will taste a piece of Singaporean history.
