The China Pavilion a spectacular structure attracted millions of visitors. This popularity led to a decision. The Pavilion would become the new home of the Shanghai Art Museum. It would be renamed the China Art Museum. This happened in 2012.

The new China Art Museum is vast. It spans 64000 square meters. This is over ten times larger than its previous home. The building is architecturally stunning. It resembles an ancient crown.
