Created in 1967, the Lycée La Condamine stands as a testament to Franco-Ecuadorian collaboration. It is more than just a school. It is a binational institution.

Lycée La Condamine follows both French and Ecuadorian programs. This allows students to graduate with two baccalaureates. The school caters to students from primary level up to the final year of high school. This is known as Terminale.

But who was La Condamine? Charles Marie de La Condamine was a famous French explorer and scientist. He was an astronomer and encyclopedist of the 18th century. From 1735 to 1743, he led a French expedition to Ecuador. The goal was to verify the shape of the Earth. Isaac Newton theorized that the Earth was not a perfect sphere. Instead, it was bulging near the equator and flattened at the poles. La Condamine’s expedition confirmed Newton’s theory. He also explored the Amazon. He mapped its course. He discovered the rubber tree.

Today, Lycée La Condamine welcomes over 1300 students. It is part of the Agency for French Education Abroad network. This certifies that its teaching meets the standards of the French education system. The school has 15 levels of education.

France has the largest network of schools outside its borders. This allows students to continue their education in other French schools without entrance exams. This is especially helpful for families who move frequently. Lycée La Condamine is one of 494 schools in this network.

The Lycée La Condamine is located on Calle Japón Y Naciones Unidas.

The school is also known for its sports programs. Recently, the Lycée La Condamine presented the official uniforms of its Sports Association. They compete in football and volleyball. Climbing and basketball are also popular. With the 2024 Paris Olympics approaching, La Condamine has declared this year the “Year of Sport”.

Currently, the Lycée La Condamine is planning a new real estate project. It is designed to meet the educational needs of the 21st century. The new campus will be modern. It will offer inspiring spaces for learning and working.

The Lycée La Condamine also offers an American International Section. Classes are taught by native-speaking teachers. Students can prepare for Michigan exams.
