Established in 1936 Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Phei Shin began in a humble setting. Mr and Mrs Lim Lam Kok founded the school. It started with just one classroom at the Jelutong Chingze Methodist Church Chapel. Imagine the dedication it took. A year later the school moved to a larger building at number 531 East Jelutong. By 1941 student enrollment had grown significantly. The school utilized all available classrooms. World War II interrupted the school’s progress. It closed from 1941 to 1946. The Japanese invasion caused the closure. The school reopened after the war. By 1950 the existing building was no longer sufficient. A building fund committee was formed. Public donations helped build a new school at its current location. A generous donation provided an attap home with four classrooms. This new building was completed in 1951 or 1952.
