Did Concorde Sierra Delta ever dream of world records as it first took flight in 1978? Right here at Le Bourget, we stand before this aviation legend. Concorde Sierra Delta, or F-BTSD as it’s also known, boasts a remarkable history. Delivered to Air France in September 1978, Sierra Delta quickly made its mark. This Concorde holds the world records for the fastest flights around the world. In 1992, it zipped westward in 32 hours, 49 minutes, and 3 seconds. Then in 1995, it flew eastward, setting a new record of 31 hours, 27 minutes, and 49 seconds. This eastward record still stands today. Imagine Sierra Delta soaring through the sky, a sleek, blue and white arrow. In 1996, it even sported a special Pepsi livery for a re-branding campaign. But its life wasn’t all glamour. In 2001, it underwent crucial tests at Istres for newly designed Michelin tires. This was part of a modification program following a tragic Concorde crash in Paris. Sierra Delta made its final flight on June 14, 2003, from Paris CDG to Le Bourget. It landed here, carrying a legacy of 12,974 flight hours, 5,135 landings, and an astounding 3,672 supersonic flights. Today, thanks to the dedication of former Air France engineer Alexandra Jolivet, it is the only Concorde in the world with a still-functioning nose and visor, using the original systems. Sierra Delta remains a powerful symbol of speed, innovation, and the enduring dream of supersonic flight.
