A rhythmic thumping, punctuated by shouts and laughter, vibrates through the air. This, my friends, is the heartbeat of Megapark. Megapark isn’t just a place; it’s a pulsating ecosystem of beer, beats, and Balearic sunshine. Located on the bustling Platja de Palma, near Ballermann 5, Megapark is hard to miss. It’s a sprawling behemoth of a venue, a cathedral of revelry built on the sands of Mallorca’s southeastern coast. Megapark first threw open its doors on May 22, 2000. The Grupo Cursach Ocio, the masterminds behind iconic Mallorcan clubs like BCM Planet Dance and Tito’s, envisioned a unique space. They wanted a place that fused the open-air freedom of a beer garden with the electric energy of a massive open-air disco. The opening was a spectacle, a who’s who of German Schlager and pop royalty. DJ Ötzi graced the stage, alongside other musical luminaries. The early years of Megapark were a whirlwind of free-flowing beer, sangria, and a non-stop parade of Mallorca’s musical stars. Think Mickie Krause, Jürgen Drews, and Guildo Horn, all under one roof (or rather, under the open sky). The party didn’t stop when the sun went down. In 2003, the MegArena was born, a subterranean dance haven pulsating beneath the Megapark. When the music had to die down above at midnight, the party simply migrated below ground, keeping the energy alive until dawn. Megapark has seen its share of transformations. Closures, demolitions, and even a gothic cathedral-inspired rebuild have shaped its evolution. The addition of the Don Quixote restaurant, a pool, and various VIP lounges added layers of luxury and exclusivity to the Megapark experience. The Megapark has also faced its challenges. Legal battles over licenses and permits, and the COVID-19 pandemic forced temporary closures. But like a phoenix from the ashes, Megapark has always returned, stronger and more vibrant than ever. In 2022, after a two-year hiatus, it reopened with a three-day party, a testament to its enduring appeal and the unquenchable thirst for a good time. So, here we stand before Megapark, a monument to the enduring power of music, celebration, and maybe just a little bit of mayhem. Its history is etched in every beer stein, every dance move, and every chorus sung at the top of your lungs. Step inside, and become a part of the legend.
