The monastery’s assets were seized in 1809 under Joachim Murat’s rule, and the monks were forced out. Some sought refuge in the church of San Gregorio Armeno, while the Chiesa di San Potito’s monastery was converted into a military barracks, a far cry from its spiritual origins. This magnificent building later became a Carabinieri barracks, further solidifying its secular role.
