Screaming echoed through the air. The thrill of Six Flags Mexico enveloped us.

Welcome to Six Flags Mexico the most visited theme park in all of Latin America. Millions flock here annually. Did you know it wasn’t always Six Flags? Originally called Reino Aventura it opened in 1982. A purple dragon named Cornelio was its mascot. Imagine a time before the towering coasters and adrenaline-pumping rides.

Reino Aventura was the largest theme park in Latin America at the time. However a lack of new attractions led to declining attendance. It closed for a major renovation in 1992. It reopened in 1993 as El Nuevo Reino Aventura adding new rides such as Rio Salvaje a thrilling raft ride. The movie Free Willy was even filmed here that year. This brought unwanted attention from animal rights groups. They pressured the park to release its star orca Keiko. Cornelio the dragon resumed his role as mascot.

In 1999 Premier Parks bought Reino Aventura. They invested a whopping $40 million in improvements. Twenty new attractions were added. The park officially became Six Flags Mexico on April 11 2000. Premier Parks eventually became Six Flags Inc.

Since then Six Flags Mexico has added even more exhilarating rides. Superman el ultimo Escape in 2004 The Dark Knight in 2009 and the Wonder Woman Coaster in 2018 are just a few examples. They also introduced a new virtual reality coaster and a Mardi Gras festival. A water park Hurricane Harbor has also joined the fun.

Sadly accidents have occurred. In 2019 a teenager fell from the Rueda India Ferris wheel breaking his legs. Another incident involved an 18 year old suffering a head injury from a ride. Safety remains paramount.

Today Six Flags Mexico stands as a testament to thrilling entertainment. From its humble beginnings as Reino Aventura it has transformed into a vibrant hub of excitement. It’s a place where laughter and screams mix with the energy of a Latin American celebration. Let the adventure begin.
