Gazing up at the Taurus Mountains, one can almost feel the presence of history surrounding Hisarçandır. Hisarçandır, nestled near Antalya, was once the original endpoint of the Lycian Way. This ancient trail, once ending here, has stretched closer to Antalya, inviting exploration of this historic village. Hisarçandır, meaning “fortress slope” in Turkish, lives up to its name, offering breathtaking views of the coastline and the surrounding peaks. Originally a small settlement, Hisarçandır grew under Roman rule. The Romans, recognizing its strategic location, developed the village further, building roads and infrastructure, leaving their mark on the region. Hisarçandır offers a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance. Its proximity to Antalya, about 30 kilometers away, allows visitors to explore the vibrant city life while enjoying the tranquility of this mountain village. This path allows travelers to absorb the scenery at their own pace. Their choice illustrates the accessibility of Antalya from Hisarçandır, making it an ideal starting point for an urban exploration. Today, Hisarçandır is a peaceful village within the Konyaaltı district. Its population in 2022 was 714, offering a close-knit community atmosphere.
