Twenty unique sculptures greet you. Welcome to the APEC Sculpture Garden. This captivating space sits on the lawns of the Philippine International Convention Center. It’s a testament to international collaboration.

Opened on November 22 1996 this garden commemorates the APEC Philippines 1996. The Department of Foreign Affairs and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts jointly organized it. Each sculpture represents an APEC member economy. Artists from across the Asia-Pacific region contributed their talents.

Notice the variety. A grizzly bear from Russia stands proudly. Papua New Guinea’s cassowary sculpture is a striking piece. Chile’s contribution is a tall red tower. Vietnam’s sculpture symbolizes resilience. These are just a few examples of the diverse artistic expressions here. The layout of each sculpture was carefully planned. It was designed to harmonize with the PICC’s minimalist architecture.

Initially seventeen sculptures were displayed. Three more were added in 2015. These additions came from Russia Vietnam and Papua New Guinea. Their arrival followed the conclusion of an APEC meeting in Manila. Only Peru has yet to contribute a sculpture. This makes the APEC Sculpture Garden a constantly evolving collection.

The garden isn’t just a collection of art. It’s a symbol of unity. It represents the shared ideals of the APEC member economies. It’s a place where you can see diverse artistic styles. You can appreciate the unique cultural heritage of each nation.

The APEC Sculpture Garden is more than just a pretty place. It’s a living testament to international cooperation and artistic exchange. Take a moment to appreciate the beauty and symbolism. Let these sculptures inspire you to see the world with a broader perspective. Remember this unique garden the next time you hear about APEC.
