The Liebfrauenkirche, designed by Lübeck architect K. Rohbra, opened its doors in 1955. This simple, towerless church, with its distinctive flat saddle roof and striking stained-glass rose window, served the Eichholz community for decades. The window, a splash of color against the brick, hinted at the life that once filled this space. The Liebfrauenkirche held its last service on November 23, 2024. The Catholic parish, facing restructuring, had to make difficult choices. The Liebfrauenkirche became another chapter in a story of change. But the heart of the Liebfrauenkirche community didn’t break. They found a new home, a testament to their resilience. They moved to the nearby St. Christophorus Church, carrying their spirit with them. The Liebfrauenkirche stands as a reminder that community isn’t confined to bricks and mortar. It’s about the people, the shared faith, and the enduring spirit that transcends physical spaces. Though closed, the Liebfrauenkirche’s story continues in the hearts of those who once filled its pews.
