High above the Dummersdorfer Ufer stands Aussichtsturm Borndiek. Here, let me tell you its story.

Aussichtsturm Borndiek offers more than just a view. It is a testament to community support and a love for nature. This tower allows you to see the beauty of Lübeck from a unique perspective.

In 2012, Aussichtsturm Borndiek was erected. Generous donations made it possible. The Engelbert and Hertha Albers-Stiftung of Hamburg contributed greatly. The Gemeinnützige Sparkassenstiftung zu Lübeck also helped. The Landschaftspflegeverein Dummersdorfer Ufer was also involved. Even an art auction at the Lübeck Kunsthaus added to the funds.

The Umwelt-, Natur- und Verbraucherschutz oversaw the project. Today, the Stadtwald division of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck cares for Aussichtsturm Borndiek.

From Aussichtsturm Borndiek, the views are stunning. You can see the Trave River with its boats and ships. The Pötenitzer Wiek lies opposite. The southern tip of the Priwall peninsula is also visible. You can watch ferries loading and unloading at the Skandinavien-Kai. The tower is perfect for observing the bird migration over the Trave valley.

The Dummersdorfer Ufer and Dummersdorfer Feld form a lovely recreation area. Locals and tourists enjoy this space. The varied landscape has hills, valleys, and open fields. Forests and hiking trails add to the charm. The steep bank and beaches along the Trave offer relaxation and adventure.

People come here to walk, jog, and try Nordic walking. Some enjoy horseback riding or fishing. To protect nature while allowing recreation, visitor information is important. Aussichtsturm Borndiek and the Stülper Huk are highlights of this landscape. The Stülper Huk has remains of a Slavic fortification.

Aussichtsturm Borndiek stands 14 meters tall. You can include it on a walk to Botteberg. The Botteberg is 25 meters high. The trail covers about 7.39 kilometers.

Remember, Aussichtsturm Borndiek is more than just a viewpoint. It is a symbol of community, nature, and the beauty of Lübeck. Take a moment to appreciate the collective effort that brought this tower to life. Enjoy the stunning views. Reflect on the importance of preserving our natural landscapes.
