From a small seed planted in 1967, Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana, or UKRIDA as it’s affectionately known, has blossomed into a prominent institution in Jakarta’s educational landscape. Originally named Universitas Kristen Djaja, UKRIDA was established under the guidance of the GKI Synod of West Java. Imagine the scene back then, a time of great change and development in Indonesia. The founders, supported by influential figures like Prof. Dr. G.A. Siwabessy, the Minister of Health, envisioned a university that would nurture future leaders and contribute to the nation’s growth. UKRIDA began its journey at the Gunung Sahari Campus in Central Jakarta. The university eventually relocated to its current location in Tanjung Duren in 1985. This move marked a significant expansion for UKRIDA. The Tanjung Duren campus became the bustling hub of learning and innovation that we see today. UKRIDA has always adapted to the changing needs of society. It has expanded to include three campuses and two teaching hospitals, demonstrating its commitment to providing comprehensive education and healthcare services. The university offers a wide range of programs across five faculties and fourteen study programs. Two of these programs are particularly noteworthy. UKRIDA boasts the first and only Applied Bachelor Optometry program in Indonesia and a Diploma in Nursing. The university also recognizes the importance of equipping students with practical skills for the professional world. Soft skills programs are integrated into the curriculum to ensure graduates are well-rounded and career-ready. From its humble beginnings, UKRIDA has grown into a respected institution known for its academic rigor, community engagement, and commitment to shaping future leaders. The university continues to evolve and innovate, adding new programs like the Biomedical Engineering concentration within the Electrical Engineering program. UKRIDA is more than just a university; it is a testament to the power of vision, dedication, and the transformative potential of education.
