Established in 1952, Politeknik Keuangan Negara STAN has a rich history. It’s not a campus that sprung up overnight. PKN STAN is the culmination of several academies, courses, and institutes under the Ministry of Finance. Initially, it started as the Kursus Djabatan Ajun Akuntan (KDAA). This course covered Ajun Akuntan Negara (AAN) in Bandung and Ajun Akuntan Pajak (AAP) in Jakarta. The Akademi Pajak dan Pabean (AP2) followed in 1957. This academy, initially named Akademi Pajak, was formed in 1956. The AP2 later gave way to the Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Keuangan Negara (STIKN) in 1959. STIKN housed four departments: Accounting, General Tax, Customs and Excise, and General Treasury. Politeknik Keuangan Negara STAN’s journey also saw the establishment of other financial institutions. The Akademi Treasury Negara (ATN) emerged in 1958, created by the Ministry of Finance. Its goal was to provide competent experts in state finance for the transfer of state administration duties. In 1963, the Badan Pemeriksa Keuangan founded the Akademi Dinas Pemeriksa Keuangan (ADPK). This academy, originating from a course, offered a 5-year education program. These institutions eventually integrated to form the Institut Ilmu Keuangan (IIK) in 1967. The IIK, equivalent to a state university, upheld the Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi principles. It offered four departments: Accounting, General Tax, Customs and Excise, and General Treasury, before closing in 1975. It’s important to note that Politeknik Keuangan Negara STAN is not a direct transformation of the IIK. STAN began as a training center under the Badan Pendidikan dan Latihan Keuangan (BPLK). In 1975, it received a permit from the Ministry of Education and Culture to provide accounting education. Before the Bintaro campus was inaugurated, Politeknik Keuangan Negara STAN operated from the Purnawarman campus. The Bintaro campus, inaugurated by the Minister of Finance in 1986, became operational in 1988. The final transformation came in 2015. A regulation from the Minister of Finance marked the official establishment of Politeknik Keuangan Negara STAN as we know it today. This granted STAN the authority to offer vocational education from Diploma I up to Applied Doctorate (S3) levels. Today, Politeknik Keuangan Negara STAN stands as a testament to its evolving history, a hub of financial education in Indonesia.
