After a brief career, Doğançay decided to devote himself to art in 1964. He made New York his permanent home. He became known for his fascination with urban walls. Over 40 years, he captured urban walls in paintings, graphics, tapestries, sculptures and photographs.

Adil Dogançay was born in Istanbul in 1900. He was an officer and a well-known painter. His works are impressionistic landscapes and seascapes. Most of his paintings were completed between 1940 and 1990. He traveled all over Anatolia as a topographer. He produced his paintings outdoors. He called nature his greatest teacher.
The museum organizes a yearly painting competition. Elementary schools in Istanbul participate. The Dogançay Museum collaborates with companies. They bring Dogançay’s works to a new audience.
