Is this where the water flows even in summer? We are standing at the edge of Nahal Zippori. It’s the longest stream in the western Lower Galilee. The name might sound a bit like “bird” to you, and you’d be right! Zippor means bird in Hebrew. The stream meanders for 32 kilometers, starting near Tzipori and finally joining the Kishon River. Nahal Zippori is special because it’s fed by numerous springs, ensuring water flows even during the hot summer months. Imagine people living here from as far back as 8,000 BCE, relying on this water source. Archaeologists have found flintstones and pottery, proving people have been drawn to Nahal Zippori for millennia! The valley whispers those ancient stories, reminding us of the enduring connection between humans and nature. Let’s continue our exploration, keeping an eye out for echoes of the past along the way.
