The church was completed in 1926. However, the crypt beneath, with a capacity for 200 souls, was consecrated earlier in 1923. Interestingly, while most buildings in the vicinity are built of red brick, Sankt Lukas Kirke stands out in its majestic light gray limestone. This limestone, brought all the way from Faxe, gives the church a unique and striking appearance. The church’s minimalist design, both inside and out, further emphasizes its clean, almost puritanical lines.
