Ever stopped to consider the stories held within the walls of Budapest’s Rózsafüzér királynéja-templom? This historic Roman Catholic Church stands as a testament to faith and resilience. The Queen of the Rosary Church has seen its share of trials.
Designed by Ferenc Paulheim, the Rózsafüzér királynéja-templom was constructed between 1912 and 1915. Antal Hofhauser executed the build. It was strategically placed next to the Dominican chapel. This chapel had been erected in 1905.
On October 3 1915 Archbishop János Csernoch of Esztergom dedicated the Rózsafüzér királynéja-templom. From 1915 to 1951 Dominican monastic priests served here. Then diocesan priests took over until 1989. The Dominican Order returned from 1989 to 2007. Since 2007 diocesan priests have once again been in charge.
The Rózsafüzér királynéja-templom faced a major setback in 1997. A fire severely damaged the building and its contents. Renovation of the interior started in 2008. Repairs to the stained-glass windows began in 2012.
The Queen of the Rosary Church stands as a symbol of perseverance. Its history reflects the changing tides of religious administration. It also shows its physical restoration. The Rózsafüzér királynéja-templom continues to be an active church today. It is under the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest.
