Tucked away on Marjorie Avenue, Zion Tabernacle has witnessed decades of faith and community in Dallas. Zion Tabernacle isn’t just a building. It’s a living testament to the dedication of its congregants and the unwavering leadership of its pastors. One such figure is Suffragan Bishop Leon Parker. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1953, his life has been interwoven with Zion Apostolic Temple in Dallas. He was baptized at five and called to the ministry at twenty, preaching his first sermon the same night he received the Holy Ghost.
His journey led him from Ohio to Dallas to join his mother, Pastor Mary Parker, in building the ministry. Appointed assistant pastor in 1982, he later saw his wife, Charlotte, called to the ministry in 1983. Bishop Parker’s leadership and dedication to Zion Tabernacle are rooted in a deep family history. His father, District Elder Isaac Parker, and mother instilled in him a profound sense of faith and service. Bishop Parker even holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies from Southern Bible Institute and an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Theological Studies from Aenon Bible College. He has guided Zion Tabernacle through many challenges.
His journey underscores the enduring spirit of faith that defines Zion Tabernacle. The church stands as a symbol of resilience and the power of community. It reminds us that faith can bloom anywhere, even in the heart of a bustling city like Dallas. Zion Tabernacle, a place of worship, a testament to faith, and a cornerstone of the community, continues to serve its congregation and the city of Dallas.
