Did you know Colonel Victoriano Luna dreamed of a hospital? This is it. The Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center stands before you a testament to his vision.

In 1935 Colonel Luna a Chief of Medical Service envisioned a hospital to care for a growing army. His dream took shape in 1937. Army engineers began construction. The hospital opened on September 3 1946. It was then named the 1st Philippine Army General Hospital. It was later renamed in honor of Colonel Luna himself a hero of the Battle of Bataan.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center didn’t just spring up overnight. Its history is rich. It faced challenges. It played a pivotal role during wartime. It even expanded to 500 beds in 1941 only to face devastating bombing during World War II. The hospital’s staff and patients experienced the horrors of the Bataan Death March. After the war it was rebuilt. The center’s resilience reflects the spirit of the Armed Forces themselves.

Initially located in Camp Murphy the hospital’s location shifted. In 1950 it moved to its current location on a 16-hectare site in Quezon City. It became a critical center during times of conflict. It treated both military personnel and civilians. This included treating those involved in conflicts such as the anti-dissident campaign and battles in Jolo Sulu. The dedication of the staff during these chaotic times shows incredible bravery.

Today the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center is a modern facility. It is a symbol of unwavering service and commitment. It provides state-of-the-art care. It serves military personnel and their families. This place isn’t just a hospital. It’s a living legacy. It honors the vision of a man. It showcases the dedication of countless individuals who have served here. It serves as a crucial part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Step inside and let the legacy of Colonel Luna and the countless heroes who followed inspire you.
