Did you know that a place of stunning natural beauty lies just a short drive from Melbourne? It is called Toorongo Falls Campground. Toorongo Falls Campground is a haven for nature lovers. It’s located 100 kilometers east of Melbourne, near the town of Noojee in Gippsland. The reserve surrounding Toorongo Falls Campground encompasses a series of captivating waterfalls. Toorongo Falls Campground offers a unique bush camping experience along the Toorongo River. The campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No bookings are required. However, arriving early is recommended, especially during peak seasons. While freshwater is available from the river, boiling it before drinking is advisable. Firewood isn’t supplied at the campground itself. You can purchase it from the Noojee General Store. Visitors are reminded to use established fireplaces only. And of course, never light fires on a Total Fire Ban day. Remember to take all your rubbish home, leaving the area pristine for others to enjoy. Pets are welcome at Toorongo Falls Campground. There are two main camping areas at Toorongo Falls. Campground One is an open, grassy area with flat campsites along the Toorongo River. It’s perfect for both tents and vehicles, with ample fire pits and picnic tables. Campground One is accessible year-round by all vehicle types, including large caravans. A short walk along the river upstream leads you to the Toorongo Falls Walk. Campground Two is located further up the road. It offers a flatter terrain, ideal for small caravans and campervans. It is important to note that Campground Two is closed from early June until the September school holidays. Toorongo Falls Campground has two campground areas with various amenities. These include fire pits, numerous campsites suitable for tents, campervans, and caravans, drop toilets, and picnic tables. Nearby attractions include Noojee Trestle Bridge, Ralph Cornwall Loch Valley Tramway Walk, Noojee Heritage Centre, Toorongo Falls Walk, and Amphitheatre Falls Walk via Toorongo Falls. So, next time you’re yearning for a nature escape, remember Toorongo Falls Campground. It is a place where the sounds of the river and the laughter of kookaburras create an unforgettable symphony.
