UCM’s journey began in December 2000. Bishop Fatai Olushola Jubril’s home was its first location. The prayer meetings led by Pastor Kudirat Jubril attracted many. Initially, African families joined. Soon, people from other backgrounds came too.
In February 2001, UCM officially registered as a religious entity. What began as a small fellowship quickly grew. Regular meetings and more members meant a need for a bigger space. From its original location on Scott Avenue North in Robbinsdale. UCM moved to Clarence Avenue SE in Minneapolis. In 2008, it found its current home on Raymond Avenue in Saint Paul.
Today, Universal Christian Ministries has over 200 families. These families come from about 20 different countries. UCM’s influence extends beyond Minnesota. It has churches in Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Uganda. Sierra Leone alone boasts over 20 UCM churches.
But UCM’s mission goes beyond spreading the Gospel. It is also committed to education. The church operates about 20 schools in Sierra Leone. Most of the 3000 children attending receive scholarships. Universal Christian Ministries plans to expand this initiative. They hope to establish clinics and hospitals in Africa. This will address the inadequate social health care in those nations.
UCM organizes events such as the annual church convention. The 2019 convention theme was Change My Story. The conventions take place at the Universal Christian Ministries Church Auditorium.
Universal Christian Ministries also focuses on adult education. They provide opportunities for women and mothers in rural African communities. These programs include learning English and micro financing. They also teach other foundational skills.
