Take a moment to soak in the serene atmosphere of the Am Durchblick, also known as the Durchblickpark. It’s a green haven tucked away in the heart of Munich. Standing right here, you’re on the historical axis that once connected two magnificent palaces: Nymphenburg and Blutenburg. The Am Durchblick was designed as an “open view” in the 18th century, allowing for a clear visual path between the palaces. Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell, renowned for his design of the English Garden, envisioned this park as a visual connector, a green passageway between two grand landmarks. This vision was partly thwarted by the construction of the railway line cutting through it. This means we can only partially admire the intended view, but the park still offers a glimpse of Blutenburg Castle nestled in the distance. This is definitely a place to escape the hustle and bustle of Munich, enjoy a peaceful moment in nature, and ponder the city’s captivating past.
