In 1964 a dream took root. It was a dream of uplifting Mexico’s people through education. This dream materialized as the Universidad Anáhuac. Nestled initially in a modest house in Lomas Virreyes it began with just 48 students. These brave pioneers pursued Business Administration and Economics.
The Universidad Anáhuac’s early years were marked by rapid growth. Psychology and Human Sciences joined the curriculum in 1965. Architecture and Law followed in 1966. The vision of Father Faustino Pardo LC the university’s first president fueled this expansion. Thanks to generous support from Mexican entrepreneurs a new campus in Lomas Anáhuac was built.
1968 was a landmark year. The first Anáhuac graduates walked the stage. The magnificent new campus opened its doors on June 4th. This marked a pivotal moment for the Universidad Anáhuac. Its future looked bright. The university was solidifying its place among Mexico’s top private institutions.
Official recognition came in 1981. The Mexican government granted the Universidad Anáhuac the Right of Autonomy and Official Validity of Studies. This was a testament to its commitment to academic excellence. The same year the Universidad Anáhuac México Sur was established. It expanded the university’s reach into southern Mexico City. This was the genesis of the Anáhuac Universities Network.
The Universidad Anáhuac continued to flourish. In 2006 the Ministry of Public Education bestowed a prestigious award. It recognized the Universidad Anáhuac México Norte as an Institution of Academic Excellence. Its southern counterpart received the same accolade in 2007. Further recognition came in 2009. The Ministry of Public Education praised the quality of the Universidad Anáhuac’s programs.
A significant event occurred in 2016. The Universidad Anáhuac México Norte and the Universidad Anáhuac México Sur merged. The unified institution became the Universidad Anáhuac México. It retained both its north and south campuses. This unification further solidified the legacy of the Universidad Anáhuac. Mr Cipriano Sánchez García became the first president of this new era.
