How is it that a church can feel so alive on a weekday? This, my friends, is Freeway Baptist Church. It’s more than just bricks and mortar. Freeway Baptist Church has been a beacon of faith in the heart of Chelsea since the late 20th century. The story of Freeway Baptist Church is one of growth, adaptation, and unwavering faith. The church officially came into being in 1997 and quickly became a part of the Baptist Union of Victoria. As the congregation grew, so did their need for a larger space. In 2008, they found their home right here in the Chelsea Market Building. But they didn’t stop there. They embraced the digital age. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they seamlessly transitioned to live streaming their services. They even have a YouTube channel where you can catch past sermons. Freeway Baptist Church understands the importance of connection. In 2021, they went a step further by introducing “Church Connect,” an app that allows members to stay updated and engaged. They even made sure everyone could access the church’s first-floor space by installing a platform lift in 2023. Freeway Baptist Church is a testament to the enduring power of faith and community in a rapidly changing world.
