“A church born in a different era,” the old woman whispered, her eyes twinkling as she gazed at Saint Paul Reform Baptist Church. “A time of change, you see.” It was 1952 when the seeds of Saint Paul Reform Baptist Church were sown, a beacon of faith established by Reverend C.D. Knight and sixty-three devoted parishioners. The air buzzed with hope as they gathered, their voices uniting in prayer within the hallowed halls of New Bethel Baptist Church. They were a congregation on a mission, their hearts set on establishing a place of worship that truly belonged to them. Their journey led them to Midway Baptist Church, under the guidance of Reverend W.C. Barnes. It was there, in August 1953, that they found a temporary home, purchasing the property at 1600 Pear Street. However, the Lord works in mysterious ways. The congregation thrived, their faith blossoming like a rose in bloom. By October 13, 1963, their dedication was rewarded as they stepped into the sanctuary that stands to this day, a testament to their unwavering belief.
