“This is it, the Capilla Divino Espíritu Santo.” You hear the tour guide’s words as you stand in front of the small, white chapel. It’s tucked away on a quiet street in the Nuevo París neighborhood, far from the bustling downtown. But don’t let its unassuming exterior fool you. Inside, the Capilla Divino Espíritu Santo is a place of profound spirituality and history. The chapel has been a beacon of faith for the local community since its founding around 1990 and is a part of the Obra Don Calabria, a charitable and religious organization founded by the Italian Father, Juan Calabria. In 1990, the Obra Don Calabria received a visit from the reliquias – the physical remains – of the founder, Father Juan Calabria, and they were displayed at this chapel, to draw people’s attention to the work of the organization. Imagine the joy of the people who saw the reliquias. They saw tangible proof of the man who devoted his life to helping others and felt his spirit close to them. This chapel has seen the joy of baptisms and the solemnity of funerals, all the while remaining a vital space for worship in this community. Step inside with me and let’s explore the sanctuary together.
