Clement Letot, a French immigrant and Crimean War veteran, rests here at Letot Cemetery Plaque. He arrived in northwest Dallas County in 1874. Letot founded the town bearing his name in 1881, alongside a burgeoning rail line. Following the tradition of Texas pioneers, he designated a portion of his land as a family burial ground. Tragedy struck early. His sons, Theodore and Paul, passed away in 1884 and 1885 respectively, becoming the first interments at Letot Cemetery. Clement Letot eventually joined his sons in 1907. Letot Cemetery, now within Dallas city limits, is more than just a burial ground. It’s a poignant reminder of Dallas County’s rich and diverse heritage, a testament to the enduring legacy of its early settlers. The Letot Cemetery Plaque stands as a tribute to this history.
