Have you ever wondered about the history of a church that started as a dream? Northaven United Methodist Church stands tall in North Dallas. This church is actually a relatively new structure, built in 1972. It replaces a former church on the same site. This previous church was a brick building, constructed in 1953, but the congregation had grown so large that it became too small. The congregation dreamed of something bigger, and they were determined to build a new church. The architects were able to create a unique space with a circular sanctuary. This space was designed to fit the congregation’s needs and vision for a dynamic worship experience. It has a skylight in the middle of the building with a cross that descends down to the space where the seating is located. The church has a distinct, modern design. The large skylight is a focal point in the sanctuary. It allows natural light to illuminate the space all day long. You can see the cross from outside the building, which is a striking sight. Today Northaven United Methodist Church holds services every Sunday and is a place where people of all backgrounds are welcome and invited to participate in worship. It is truly a place where people can find comfort and healing, a sacred space where dreams are realized.
