A sprawling green expanse greets you. Welcome to Colony Park District Park. This isn’t just any park. It’s a testament to community collaboration and sustainable development.
Colony Park District Park in Northeast Austin is more than just a place for recreation. It’s a symbol of transformation. The 93-acre site plus a neighboring 208-acre plot began as underutilized land. A master plan created in 2016 after extensive community input transformed it. This plan envisioned a premiere park space uniting surrounding areas.
The park’s creation involved a remarkable partnership. The Austin Parks Foundation the City of Austin’s Parks and Recreation Department and St. David’s Foundation joined forces. A $700000 grant helped make Phase 1 a reality. This phase opened in spring 2017 providing a walking trail.
Construction for later phases began in 2019. The final result promises multi-use trails. There will also be an inclusive children’s play area. Two sports fields a pavilion benches drinking fountains and a fitness plaza will complete the amenities. Think of the laughter of children the friendly competition on the sports fields the quiet moments of reflection on a park bench.

It’s a place where families gather neighbors connect and the spirit of Austin thrives. The park isn’t just a green space it’s a living testament to the power of shared vision and community spirit.
