Nestled in the heart of Saint-Germain-en-Laye lies Camp des Loges, a place steeped in sporting history. Camp des Loges isn’t just any training ground. It’s a cradle of legends, a witness to triumphs and heartbreaks, a silent chronicler of footballing evolution. Originally a military camp during its inauguration in 1904, Camp des Loges transitioned into a sporting haven when Paris Saint-Germain adopted it as their training ground in 1970. The echoes of that first training session on July 28, 1970, still reverberate through the grounds. Guy Crescent, the club president at the time, declared to his newly formed team: “From now on, you belong to a family. Paris Football Club and Stade Saint-Germain are over. We are now Paris Saint-Germain!” This marked the beginning of a new era, a fusion of clubs, a shared dream, all nurtured at Camp des Loges. For decades, Camp des Loges witnessed the rise of PSG, the club’s evolution from ambitious upstarts to national giants. It was here, on these hallowed grounds, that training regimes were honed, tactics were perfected, and stars were born. But time marches on. Even legends need a refresh. By the early 2000s, Camp des Loges, despite its storied past, was showing its age. Renovations were necessary, a rebirth was required. In 2008, a brand-new Camp des Loges emerged, a phoenix from the ashes, modern and gleaming yet still resonating with the echoes of the past. This new facility boasted state-of-the-art equipment: hydrotherapy pools, massage rooms, cutting-edge medical facilities, everything a top-tier club could desire. From 2013 to 2023, the complex even bore the name Ooredoo Training Centre due to a sponsorship deal. Despite these advancements, the winds of change were blowing once again. PSG’s ambitions outgrew even this revitalized Camp des Loges, and in 2023, the men’s team bid farewell to their historic home, moving to the sprawling Campus PSG in Poissy. The women’s team and the youth academy followed suit in 2024. But Camp des Loges wouldn’t remain silent for long. In late 2024, a new chapter began. The rumble of scrums replaced the thud of footballs as Stade Français, Paris’ professional rugby club, took up residence. The fields were transformed, the facilities adapted, and Camp des Loges embarked on a fresh adventure, proving its enduring legacy as a vital hub in the Parisian sporting landscape. As you stand here, before the gates of Camp des Loges, take a moment to absorb the rich history embedded within these walls. Imagine the countless hours of training, the victories celebrated, the defeats mourned, the dreams realized. Camp des Loges isn’t just a training ground. It’s a testament to the power of sport, a symbol of evolution and adaptation, a place where legends are made and legacies live on.
