Beneath the distinctive tiered black roof of the Werribee Cemetery Mausoleum, a story unfolds. The Werribee Cemetery Mausoleum stands as a landmark within the Werribee Cemetery. Established in the 1860s, Werribee Cemetery holds a significant place in the community’s history. The mausoleum, with its contemporary architecture, is a newer addition to the cemetery grounds. The Werribee Mausoleum initially started as the Wyndham Community Mausoleum. It later evolved into the two structures you see today. Each family crypt in the Werribee Cemetery Mausoleum offers a space for both services and contemplation. Finely detailed bronze panels screen the crypts. These panels provide a sense of privacy and peacefulness for visiting families. The monuments and markers throughout Werribee Cemetery reflect the area’s diverse multicultural history. The cemetery is not just a place of remembrance. It is also a place of natural beauty with rose gardens, an avenue of gum trees, and a 75-year-old Bunya-Bunya Pine. While the Werribee Cemetery Mausoleum provides a serene final resting place, it is currently at capacity. However, the Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust has plans for a new addition. This expansion will allow more families to become part of the Werribee Cemetery Mausoleum’s story.
