“See those stones? They whisper stories” I begin. Welcome to the Kós Károly Művelődési Ház és Könyvtár. This impressive building stands proudly in Budakalász. It’s more than just a library and community center. It’s a testament to Budakalász’s spirit.
The Kós Károly Művelődési Ház és Könyvtár stands as a symbol of cultural continuity. It replaced the old Lenfonó Cultural House. The 1600 square meter facility is one of the town’s most beautiful buildings. It serves as a vital cultural and community hub for its thousands of residents.
Architect Tury Attila designed it. He completed the building in 1996. It initially functioned as a community center called a “Faluház”. The building bears the unmistakable “Makovecz” style. Tury Attila was one of Makovecz’s most talented students. He masterfully blended modern and traditional elements in his design. The building’s walls incorporate stones donated by Budakalász residents and old brick bearing coats of arms. The structure embodies the passage of time. It represents a continuity of values and aesthetics in its architectural expression.
