This sparked his dedication to religious education. His parents initially disagreed wanting him to tend to their water buffalo. Undeterred he left home to study at Pondok Pesantren Pakulonan. He later studied at other prestigious pesantrens. Mastering Quranic studies and Qiraat.
His teacher KH Tubagus Sholeh Ma’mun even recommended him to students from East Tangerang and West Jakarta. Sholeh’s devotion extended beyond personal study. He established Jam’iyyatul Qurro wal Huffadz (JQH). This organization focused on Quranic recitation tajwid tafsir and tahfidz. His son KH Mas’ud Sholeh also established Darus Salam a girls’ pesantren in 1977.
